Finance Director Donna Goodson told the council the amendment affected the general fund and the Kinston Community Center fund and that the notable line item was approximately $102,000 for motor vehicle replacements funded by insurance proceeds from damaged vehicles. Police Chief Keith Goyette said the vehicles required replacement after traffic accidents and that the officers involved were unharmed.
Council Member Lipford moved to approve the operating budget amendment; Council Member Hardy seconded and the motion carried unanimously.
The amendment uses insurance recoveries to finance vehicle replacements. Council directed staff to incorporate the amendment into the city’s financial records and follow standard purchasing procedures for the replacement vehicles.
