At its Jan. 8 meeting the Kinston/Lenoir County Parks & Recreation Commission approved minutes for Oct. 2 and Nov. 13, 2025 and recorded the actions as unanimous votes.
Scott Alston reported program updates: fall soccer had about 475 registrants, spring soccer registrations were open, and baseball registration would begin soon. Alston also announced two upcoming community events: Day in the Park set for May 16 at Bill Fay and Special Olympics scheduled for April 2 at Kinston High School. He said participation has increased for baseball and softball.
Chair Steve Oliver announced the commission will have two vacant city seats in March; new applicants will be voted on at the February meeting. With no further business, Jeremy Jones moved to adjourn; Aaron Yarus seconded and the motion carried by unanimous vote.
