Aaron Yarus installed as chair; commission honors Steve Oliver's decades of service

The Kinston/Lenoir County Parks & Recreation Commission voted unanimously March 12 to install Aaron Yarus as chair and Mary Margaret Keith as vice-chair.
Scott Alston presented outgoing chair Steve Oliver with a plaque recognizing his lengthy service to the Recreation Commission. Oliver told the commission he has been involved with the Recreation Department, in some capacity, for about 68 years.
The installation motion was made by Keith King and seconded by Sue Ellen Maddux and passed by unanimous voice vote, as recorded in the minutes. The meeting record also notes that new members Jerry Burns and Sue Ellen Maddux were welcomed to the commission during the session.
No additional actions related to the leadership change were recorded; the meeting adjourned following remaining agenda items.
