Kure Beach — The Town Council voted unanimously on Jan. 26 to close Atlantic Avenue between K and L Avenues from early morning through 5 p.m. on Saturday, April 25, 2026, to allow art and craft vendors and food trucks to participate in a community event. The council also waived paid parking enforcement for the day and approved the Dec. 15, 2025 meeting minutes as part of the consent agenda (motion by Mayor Pro Tem David Heglar; second Commissioner Byron Ashbridge).
The motion, recorded as part of the consent agenda, passed unanimously with no recorded conditions or special permit contingencies in the minutes. The council did not record a separate discussion or public comment on the event during the Jan. 26 meeting.
