Kure Beach — At its Jan. 26 meeting the Kure Beach Town Council voted unanimously to fill several advisory and commission vacancies.
Commissioner Byron Ashbridge moved and MPT David Heglar seconded the appointment of Joe Barlok as a full member of the Planning & Zoning Commission; the motion passed unanimously. MPT David Heglar moved, and Commissioner Mark Dirks seconded, the appointment of Craig Galbraith as a full P&Z member; that motion passed unanimously. Commissioner Ashbridge moved and Commissioner Connie Mearkle seconded the appointment of Ed Hall as a full P&Z member, which the council approved unanimously. The council also appointed George Thomas as an alternate member to the Planning & Zoning Commission (motion by MPT Heglar, second Commissioner Ashbridge; unanimous).
For the Marketing Advisory Committee, Commissioner Mark Dirks said the committee interviewed applicants at its January meeting and recommended Laura Holman Byrne; Dirks moved to appoint Byrne as a full member and MPT Heglar seconded. The committee also named Steve Stefanovich as the new Marketing Advisory Committee chair.
Commissioner Dirks moved and MPT Heglar seconded a separate motion to appoint Tom Corcoran as a full member of the Historic Preservation Commission; the motion passed unanimously.
