The Mount Rainier City Council voted on Sept. 2 to appoint Tracy Mercer to the Recreation Committee for a two-year term, bringing the group back to five voting members.
Vice Mayor Valerie Woodall said Mercer had served previously and is returning after a hiatus: “Tracy…has served on the committee before, and she is coming back now after a hiatus,” Woodall said during the meeting. Mayor Selena Benitez placed the motion to appoint Mercer; the motion was seconded and, with no objections or abstentions, the council confirmed the appointment.
The council also discussed upcoming Recreation Committee events, including Porch Fest on Sept. 27 and a committee meeting on Sept. 11. Councilmembers encouraged residents to contact the committee if they are interested in performing or hosting a porch for the event.
The meeting approved the June 3, 2025 minutes earlier in the agenda package and adjourned at 7:39 p.m.
