Contractor presents renovation plans for 4129 29th Street; county approval noted

Concho Construction presented proposed work for 4129 29th Street during the March 4 Mount Rainier council meeting. The contractor, identified by the mayor as Mr. Portillo, said the project will include roof replacement, exterior painting and siding, a gravel driveway at the rear, new flooring, bathroom remodeling and relocation of the kitchen.
City staff (Alma) told the council the county has approved both interior and exterior work and that the city's permit would be issued promptly following the presentation. Staff reminded the contractor to observe local ordinances on allowable work hours and to consult the city before removing any trees that may be protected under the tree ordinance. Jared noted the city's noise and tree ordinances and urged the contractor to coordinate closely with staff.
Portillo asked when permits would be ready and was told the permit process should allow work to start the next day if the council approves and the county documentation is in order. City staff advised the contractor to contact the department director for specific questions about canopy trees and permit conditions.
