Council schedules April 6 protest hearing for 2026 paving project; assessment letters to be mailed

Jessica Tagastad of Wold Engineering told the Bottineau City Council on March 2 that special-assessment letters for the 2026 Paving Project will be mailed next week and outlined the project timeline.
Councilmember Marsden moved to schedule a protest hearing on April 6 to consider assessments; Councilmember Mortensen seconded and the motion carried. Tagastad said the Street Committee will meet next week to continue planning.
Tagastad also told the council that if the project’s actual cost exceeds current estimates, a Flex Funding Grant could cover a portion of the overrun, but the city’s assessment share to property owners would not change based on grant receipt.
The council did not take a final vote on project contracts at the meeting; the April 6 protest hearing will allow property owners to contest proposed assessments and for the council to consider final adjustments.
