Hillsborough Conservation Commission proposes $10,000 NRI request, approves small operating allocations and routine actions

Chair Richard Head called the Hillsborough Conservation Commission to order at 7:00 p.m. on Nov. 11, 2025. The commission approved the minutes of Oct. 28, 2025, on a 6-0 vote after a motion by Roger Shamel and second from Jim Narloch.
The commission discussed next year’s proposed budget, focusing on the contract services line and the possibility of funding a Natural Resources Inventory (NRI). The commission decided to request $10,000 for contract services but left final approval contingent on obtaining a formal quote; Chair Richard Head said he would speak with Laura Buono and that the figure would be revisited after the Dec. 9 meeting when an actual quote was expected. The commission also set smaller line items: $500 for signs, $300 for printing, $200 for training and $700 for dues.
Jim Riddle reported on a trails PowerPoint he created and presented at the Association of Conservation Commissions (ACC) conference; commissioners agreed to use that presentation for a planned Selectboard presentation on Nov. 12.
On administrative matters, Recording Secretary John P. Segedy reported forwarding bills from Premier Printing for payment and Roger Shamel noted that property assessments had been mailed. The commission authorized reimbursement of $20 to Jim Riddle for supplies related to donated metal posts; Roger Shamel moved the reimbursement, James McDonough seconded and the motion passed 6-0.
The meeting record shows routine administrative business and budget planning; the commission left the $10,000 request conditional on receiving a quote and making a final decision at the Dec. 9 meeting.
