Macclesfield board approves radar speed signs, amended audit contract and $1,800 lot cleanup; enters and exits closed session

The Town of Macclesfield Board approved a series of motions during its Nov. 12 meeting, each recorded as carrying with no opposition.
Commissioner Jean Wooten-Jiles moved to accept the meeting agenda and Commissioner Joyce Braxton seconded; that vote carried unanimously. Commissioner Braxton later moved to approve the minutes of a prior session, Commissioner Wooten-Jiles seconded and the motion carried with none opposed.
In old business, Commissioner Paula Lewis moved to appoint Commissioner Jean Wooten-Jiles to the Macclesfield Community Development Advisory Board; Mayor Pro-Tem Jason Taylor seconded and the appointment passed.
Under new business, Commissioner Wooten-Jiles moved to purchase radar speed signs funded from the police services line item; Commissioner Braxton seconded and the board approved the purchase, with signs scheduled to be purchased the following week.
Administrator Jennifer Stanley said the town must obtain an amended audit contract with RH for FY22-related work; Commissioner Wooten-Jiles moved to request the amendment, Commissioner Braxton seconded and the motion carried.
Commissioner Jason Taylor moved to accept a $1,800 quote to clean up the lot at Macclesfield Mill; Commissioner Braxton seconded and the motion passed. The board also voted to allow the town office to close early the day before Thanksgiving; that motion was moved by Commissioner Taylor, seconded by Commissioner Paula Lewis and approved.
At 7:10 p.m. the board went into closed session on a motion by Commissioner Wooten-Jiles and returned to open session at 7:40 p.m. on a motion by Commissioner Paula Lewis. Commissioner Lewis moved to adjourn at 7:41 p.m.; Commissioner Braxton seconded and the meeting was adjourned.
All motions reported in the minutes were seconded and recorded as carrying with none opposed; the minutes do not list individual yes/no votes or any abstentions.
