"We do still have control of opening or not opening, and we can still use that facility if we need to open for local residents and not do a Red Cross shelter," a staff presenter said.
For the E.B. Hamilton renovation, a presenter said the recommended vendor, True Vista, has a nearby fiber pedestal and would trench to the site; the quoted installation cost was $6,509.22 and the recurring charge for a 1 Gbps symmetrical line was $264 per month to be paid from the general fund. "That would just be billed monthly for us in a general fund," the presenter said, describing support for a camera system and event connectivity.
Judicially sourced contracts for misdemeanor probation services were transmitted to the board by judges Benson and Reinhardt; staff said the judges selected Professional Court Services, Inc. and the contracts were sent to the board for ratification as within the judges' purview.
Staff member Miriam reviewed alcoholic beverage license renewals in the packet, noting several businesses with unpaid taxes that could not be renewed under ordinance, five businesses that had not submitted renewal applications and two that elected to stop selling alcohol.
Commissioners also discussed personnel items: a single candidate for county clerk (referred to at the meeting as Miss Jordan) will be voted on Monday night, and a reappointment for county attorney (Raul) was presented for another 12‑month term; staff said there were no other applicants.
