Tanya Green, a resident who identified herself during public comment, told the Tift County commission on Dec. 8 that repeated violence near her home has left her afraid to continue living there and that she wants help moving a mobile home a relative gave her to a different city lot.
"I've been there 10 years. I can't take it anymore," Green said, describing multiple shootings and an incident in which someone threw a brick through her window. She said she had repeatedly contacted city officials and the police and that she feels her complaints have not led to action.
Green said she had been told her mobile home — quoted in the meeting as an older model — might not meet current zoning or age rules for placement at the address she hopes to move it to, 3108 1st Avenue. "I just wanna know what do I need to do in order to get my mobile home moved to where my brother gave me this property," she said.
Commissioners and staff responded by offering to inspect the properties and research zoning and permitting requirements. One commissioner asked to visit the site and explore whether there is any way to allow the mobile home to be placed there; another county official, Tony Wright, asked Green for her contact information and said he would speak with staff and Commissioner Hester and follow up.
Officials cautioned that moving the home may be constrained by zoning and building‑code rules. A commissioner said the legal and zoning status of the destination property will determine whether the move is possible, and that staff would have to "do the homework" to identify options.
The exchange included emotional appeals: Green told commissioners she was "done" and described threats she said she received from a neighbor. Commissioners acknowledged her frustration and offered to have staff look at the locations and contact her for a follow‑up visit.
The workshop closed with officials asking Green to leave her contact information so staff could investigate site specifics and zoning constraints. No formal vote or policy action was taken at the meeting; commissioners said they would report back after reviewing the property and relevant regulations.
