At its April 1 meeting the Wolfeboro Select Board approved a series of temporary event permits submitted by the Parks & Recreation Department and civic organizers for the 2026 season.
Highlights of approved permits included the July 4 fireworks at Brewster Academy (permit 2026-28), the Granite Kid Triathlon (2026-29), the Granite Man Triathlon at Cary Beach (2026-30), the fall Festival at Fossfield Pavilion (2026-31), the 34th annual Turkey Trot (2026-32), multiple Abenaki water-ski tournaments (permits 2026-33, 2026-34) and a set of fishing tournament permits for Back Bay (2026-35 to 2026-38).
Parks & Recreation Director Beau Betts described safety plans, participant counts and volunteer staffing for each event, noting coordination with police and volunteers and proposed shuttles or parking plans where needed. Select board members asked for and received commitments to provide parking plans and coordinate with public-safety officials — for larger events the board requested written parking and shuttle plans be included in the permit notices.
All event permits were approved by voice votes with no opposition reported. Several board members thanked staff and organizers for early planning and asked for follow-up notices to residents affected by temporary traffic changes.
The approvals allow organizers to proceed with vendor outreach and logistics; event managers were reminded to file final route and safety plans with staff and police as conditions of the permits.
