Macclesfield must seek new staff health coverage after NCLM ends trust

Town Administrator Jennifer Stanley told the Macclesfield Board of Commissioners on March 10 that the North Carolina League of Municipalities (NCLM) is cancelling the Municipal Insurance Trust effective June 30, 2025, which requires the town to find alternative providers for staff health benefits.
Stanley said NCLM has partnered with the Hilb Group to assist municipalities with the search and transition; she has attended two virtual workshops and is awaiting a quote from the Hilb Group. Commissioner Jason Taylor said he would contact acquaintances who may be able to assist in identifying options.
The board did not take formal action at the meeting but directed staff to continue work on identifying providers and to report back when quotes and plan details are available.
