Tioga adopts written public-comment policy; insurance renewal motion paused

The City Commission on Aug. 4 adopted a written Public Comment Policy to meet state law requirements after President Brett Rieniets said the city already met most requirements but needed a formal written policy. Commissioner Kyle Ralston moved to adopt the policy; Steven Dye seconded and the roll call recorded Ayes from Ralston, Iverson and Dye.
Separately, a request to renew fire and tornado insurance with Papineau Insurance for $37,074.00 was presented. Commissioner Jaden Iverson moved to renew the premium and Dye seconded, but President Rieniets questioned whether park-owned property was covered and asked Auditor Wendy Lenzen to follow up with Papineau Insurance. Iverson subsequently rescinded the motion pending that clarification.
The commission approved a consent agenda covering August bills, payroll (pay date 08/07/2025), Pledge Holdings and a special event liquor license on a motion by Iverson and second by Dye; recorded roll call Ayes included Ralston, Iverson and Dye. During public comment Chuck Stewart asked for gross wages paid this pay period; the minutes show $68,629.11.
The meeting adjourned at 8:13 p.m. The minutes state the next meeting is scheduled for Monday, Aug. 4, 2025, at Tioga City Hall.
