Tioga commission approves road repairs, dust control, hydrant move and $5 million CD

Commissioner Kyle Ralston moved to accept the gravel contract; Commissioner Jaden Iverson seconded and the motions passed (roll calls recorded as Ayes: Ralston, Iverson). Ralston told the commission the chip-sealing project had been completed on June 8 and urged pet owners to pick up after dogs in the city dog park to help with mowing operations.
The commission approved a Braun Trucking dust-control quote of $19,300 for 67th Street and approved relocating a hydrant at 222 North Linda Street up to 40 feet south to accommodate a homeowner’s garage plan after city engineers indicated no fire-safety concerns.
On municipal finance, the commission approved opening a six-month certificate of deposit at The Bank of Tioga for $5,000,000 at an interest rate of 3.26% and authorized a $3,000,000 transfer from the general account to the First State Bank and Trust construction account. Commissioner Jaden Iverson moved to open the CD and transfer the construction funds; Commissioner Ralston seconded. The minutes record roll-call Ayes as Ralston and Iverson for these motions.
Other actions approved included a salary increase for a part-time employee after completing a 90-day probationary period (effective June 16), setting fireworks hours for the July holiday, authorizing up to $5,000 to detail a resident’s vehicle and camper after claimed damage from a chip-sealing project, and approving a special-event liquor license for The Model Tavern (option two). The commission approved the consent agenda of routine permits, payroll and bills and adjourned at 8:00 p.m.
