At the Oct. 16 meeting the Board reviewed multiple building permits. The Board determined building permit #2025‑41 (Map 18, Lot 157) — an application to convert the church on School Street to housing units — is not a permitted use under the Town zoning ordinance and denied the permit, referring the matter to the Planning Board and Zoning Board of Adjustment for further consideration.
Selectman Richard H. Thackston moved to deny permit #2025‑41 due to noncompliance with the zoning ordinance; Selectman TJ Chasse seconded and the motion passed 3‑0‑0. The Board approved permits #2025‑42 (Map 12, Lot 21), #2025‑43 (Map 17, Lot 5), #2025‑44 (Map 8, Lot 5) and #2025‑45 (Map 11, Lot 3CG07) by unanimous vote.
Cameron St. Pierre presented an amendment to building permit #2025‑23 for a West Hill Road property and said he would come to Town Hall Monday to pay the $200 amendment fee. The Selectmen approved the amendment on a 3‑0 vote.
The denial of #2025‑41 sends the applicant to the Planning Board and ZBA to seek any necessary variances or a change in permitted use; the approved permits and amendment will be recorded by the Building Department as authorized.
