The Jackson Select Board voted Oct. 14 to table consideration of a Black Mountain fireworks permit for Dec. 31, 2025, after Chair Barbara Campbell summarized resident complaints and evidence of debris from earlier displays.
Campbell, who led the discussion, recapped a split among board members at a prior meeting and cited concerns raised in a complaint filed by resident Dean Davis and in material Campbell said she recovered from the park after the July 4 fireworks. Campbell also referenced RSA 160: b:7 in discussing notification and shell-size rules related to displays. Bob Thompson moved to postpone action until the board's Oct. 21 meeting because board member Frank DiFruscio was not present; the motion passed.
Erik Mogensen disputed the conclusion that the debris shown to the board originated from Black Mountain's display and said he had tried to contact abutters during the earlier review. Campbell said the location and timing of past shells and a change in launch position were central to her concerns and that the video of the event should be made public for clarity.
The board did not change permit conditions at the Oct. 14 meeting. The item will return to the agenda for formal consideration on Oct. 21, when members said they expect additional information and the ability to hear from those absent on Oct. 14.
