At the Nov. 17 Thomasville City Council meeting, members approved several administrative and contractual items in unanimous votes.
Budget amendment 2026-P5-01: Finance Director Thomas Avant requested appropriation of $3,200 from a North Carolina League of Municipalities insurance pool safety grant to install access controls and doorbells at Fire Station 24 on Ballpark Road. Council Member Hunter Thrift moved to approve the amendment; Council Member Doug Hunt seconded. Approved 7-0.
Aquatec contract extension: Parks and Recreation Director Tobin presented a fourth-year extension of the city's Aquatec pool management contract at the same cost as the third year. Council Member JacQuez Johnson moved to approve; Council Member Doug Hunt seconded. Approved 7-0.
Quit claim deed for 3 & 5 King Row (Tract B): City Attorney Whitman explained that a deed for Tract B was never executed after prior dedication and abandonment actions, creating setbacks issues for homes built on lots 11 and 12. Council authorized the mayor to execute a quit claim deed to the current owner to resolve the violation; Council Member Neal Grimes moved to accept and authorize execution; the motion passed 7-0.
Consent agenda: Council approved minutes from Oct. 13 and Oct. 20, 2025. No roll-call votes against these items were recorded.
The Council entered a closed session for personnel matters and returned with no action taken.
