The Jefferson Select Board voted unanimously on June 8 to authorize $18,000 to cover engineering, permitting and hydraulic/hydrologic analysis for a culvert replacement on Larcomb Road. Select Chair Norman Brown said an initial quote was $20,700 and was reduced to $18,000 for the preliminary engineering work.
Brown said the board should complete the engineering and permitting before proposing a Warrant Article to fund construction; the board approved taking the $18,000 from the Grounds budget because the Bridge Work budget did not contain sufficient funds. Select Member Kevin Meehan seconded the motion and it passed unanimously.
During public comment, resident Dave Passios asked about a separate culvert on Valley Road that appeared to be sinking; the board asked highway staff to inspect the culvert and follow up.
