Montrose County continues review of temporary workforce-housing zoning amendment after public comment

Montrose County planning staff told the board May 4 that the proposed zoning amendment for temporary workforce housing has generated numerous public comments requesting substantive changes to density allowances, geographic scope and buffering requirements.
Talmadge (speaker 12) said the draft has not changed since the last meeting but that staff received additional comments over the weekend and will circulate those to commissioners. “This was continued from the last meeting to consider further public comment,” he said, and noted that staff plan to bring options back at the May 20 meeting in the West End.
Commissioners said they expect most comments will come from West End residents and asked staff to prepare a range of options to respond to concerns about location and density. The planning team will continue to vet comments with public works and other departments before returning the item for formal consideration.
