At the Cameron Parish Police Jury morning session on July 13, 2026, jurors reviewed several administrative items including a disputed Fishery Building lease, a proposed funding add-on for Klondike Bar Station improvements and use of land adjacent to a training area.
A juror said the jury owns land next to the Johnson Bay training area but currently does not use that property, describing it as “a cow pasture right now.” The same juror said a neighboring operation wants to expand a fence to bring machinery onto that site.
Jurors discussed the Fishery Building, where one speaker noted there has been a $12,000-per-month lease on the property. According to the meeting record, the property owner has indicated a willingness to retake the building and assume demolition responsibilities; jurors described that arrangement as potentially favorable for upkeep and to remove liability for the jury.
Separately, a juror requested adding a $100,000 allocation for Klondike Bar Station improvements to the list of add-ons for the voting agenda. The presiding officer asked staff to place that request on the list.
Near the close of the morning session, a motion to adjourn was made by the participant who had earlier presented public items and seconded by a committee member. The panel approved the motion by voice vote and adjourned without recording votes on the permit requests discussed earlier in the session.
