Jay Bob, who identified himself as a VFW commander, said the site will attract visitors and that the VFW is coordinating promotional outreach; Lance, another coalition member, emphasized community remembrance and healing.
Board members listed local donors and partners who have committed time or materials, including the National Guard and multiple local contractors and suppliers. Commissioners praised the coalition’s persistence and moved to authorize the MOA; the motion passed by voice vote and participants gathered for a photo.
What’s next: With the MOA authorized, coalition leaders said they are preparing construction steps and outreach; the board did not identify additional funding or a construction timetable in the meeting minutes.
