Beaverdam board adopts S. McKinley Beach Road resolution, approves permits and licenses

The Town of Beaverdam board convened Sept. 10 at 7:00 p.m. and took several routine and project-related actions, including adopting a resolution concerning S. McKinley Beach Road and approving permits and licenses.
Chairman Joe Kern called the meeting to order. Liz Kern moved to approve the Aug. 20, 2024 meeting minutes and, with Jesse Hankes seconding, the board carried the motion unanimously. The board also agreed to run the meeting out of order as needed.
Land Use Administrator Dan Prunuske reported six permits issued in August, that the Planning Committee approved site plans for Ron Warmka and Dennis Giese, and that the Board of Appeals granted Old Hickory a variance for 9x18 parking stalls. Police Chief Eric Feucht reported 34 complaints in August. Les Oestreich updated the board on mowing and sign replacements.
Treasurer Nicole Banes presented town finances: current assets of $77,792; ARPA funds totaling $68,376; an outstanding loan balance of $1,946,928; and cash on hand of $510,100. The board approved the treasurer—s report unanimously.
On a motion by Liz Kern, seconded by Dean Hughes, the board adopted a resolution related to S. McKinley Beach Road; the motion carried unanimously. Separately, Terri (first name only in the record) reported she met with UP on Aug. 20 about the Shaw Hill bridge and said the town should expect an answer this month.
The board scheduled a budget meeting for Sept. 25 at 6:00 p.m. Members discussed a request to lower Peachy Road—s speed limit to 25 mph but concluded the reduction was not needed at this time, citing existing speed bumps that have slowed traffic.
The board approved the Schauer permit (motion by Liz Kern, seconded by Joe Kern) and, following the clerk—s report, approved a bartender license for Brynn Beranek at Angel—s bar (motion by Liz Kern, seconded by Dean Hughes). A concerned citizen asked whether permits for work on Madison Street had been properly issued; the transcript records the concern but does not record a formal board decision on that point. The board also tabled consideration of a basement ordinance/resolution pending further information and zoning/code review.
The board voted to pay bills totaling $28,762.23 and adjourned at 7:54 p.m. The minutes were submitted by Clerk Aimee Mallon.
