Town of Beaverdam board approves bills, schedules budget meeting and OKs bartender licenses

The Town of Beaverdam board met Oct. 8, 2024, at 7:00 p.m. and approved several routine and financial items, including a motion to pay $462,211.91 in bills and approval of two bartender licenses pending background checks. The board set a budget meeting for Oct. 16, 2024.
The treasurer, Nicole Banes, told the board the town’s financial position includes $33,946 in the General Fund, $417,147 in a money market account, $27,299 in money market reserves, $68,421 in ARPA funds and a $1,948,763 loan, for total cash on hand of $2,490,168. Banes said cash on hand excluding the loan and ARPA funds is $478,393.
Dan Prunsuke, the town’s Land Use Administrator, reported on recent planning activity and said the Planning Committee approved a house/garage addition and an Old Hickory permit. Chief Eric Feucht reported the police department logged 27 calls for service in September. Road Maintenance representative Les Oestreich said shouldering work should be finished within a few weeks, that resident Earl Voigt has permitted the town to park a loader and tractors at his property, and that the town received a $3,500 quote to spray-patch a road.
Attorney Paul Uttech provided an update on a proposed basement ordinance/resolution and advised the board that it is not necessary to move the basement-related language from the zoning code into the building code.
In clerk’s business, the board voted (L. Kern/Raue) to approve bartender licenses for Danielle M. Koeller and Amy E. Cook for Old Hickory, pending successful background checks; the motion carried unanimously. Joe Kern relayed a constituent complaint regarding ditching on Zimmerman Drive and Zimmerman Court and said the work was not included in this year’s budget but could be considered next year.
Motions approved during the meeting included: approving the prior meeting minutes (motion by L. Kern, second Raue); paying bills totaling $462,211.91 (motion by L. Kern, second Raue); and adjourning the meeting (motion by Raue, second Hankes). All motions carried unanimously. The board scheduled its budget meeting for Wednesday, Oct. 16, 2024, at 7:00 p.m. The meeting adjourned at 8:34 p.m.
