The board also approved a second SC Aeronautics Commission grant of $157,006, described by John as the 5% local share for the Runway 725 rehabilitation project at ARW. John said bids are in and a responsive low bidder has been selected; the construction contract will be presented to the board at a future meeting. The board moved and approved acceptance of the grant.
Members authorized construction administration and inspection services from Talbot Bright & Ellington for the Runway 725 project; John confirmed this work will be funded by the grant package. The board approved a separate work authorization for design and bidding services to upgrade airfield drainage structures at Hilton Head Island Airport to meet C3 strength requirements.
On wildlife control, John said the airport has re-engaged the U.S. Department of Agriculture for on-call services after a previous contract ended. He identified the contract amount as about $15,000 and the board approved a resolution to restore USDA support for wildlife removal and mitigation at both airports.
