Jay County Commissioners approve contracts, grants and routine claims in unanimous votes

The Jay County Commissioners used their June 22 meeting to approve a series of routine contracts, grants and dockets by unanimous votes.
Highway staff asked for and received approval of a contract with SJCA for Bridge #64. The board approved the county’s annual grader loan payment to Farmer State Bank of $86,619.99.
Health Administrator Elasha Lennartz presented and won approval for the 2026–2027 Health Bioterrorism Preparedness Grant for $25,000.
Emergency Medical Services shift supervisor Gary Barnett presented an estimate to add two cameras and carded door locks at the Dunkirk base from Second Shift Solutions for $4,954; commissioners approved the security system. Barnett also reported the new ambulance remains in final stages of completion and flagged that a second truck will be used at the Jay County Fair.
The board reaffirmed the amended economic development agreement with Sun Chief Solar, approved an interlocal radio agreement with Salamonia Volunteer Fire Department that assigns $6,146.40 in warranty costs over five years to Salamonia VFD and approved routine financial business: the June claims docket, the payroll docket and the treasurer’s May report. Emergency claims approved included Wright Way Collision Repair for $5,981.11 (sheriff vehicle repair) and Corpsite for $109.97 (website).
Commissioners also noted the Economic Development Income Tax (EDIT) application deadline for the 2027 budget is July 1, 2026, and said they will review EDIT applications at their July 13 meeting. The June 22 session adjourned at 10:03 a.m.
