Beaverdam board hears updates on road work, bridge talks with Union Pacific and town equipment

Town staff and board members reported a series of road and infrastructure updates at the Aug. 20 meeting of the Town of Beaverdam.
Land Use Administrator Dan Prunuske confirmed town staff are reviewing permits to ensure new construction has required approvals. Dean Hughes said Terri at the DOT has been in contact with Union Pacific’s lawyer about the Shaw Hill bridge. Koch Excavating has been assessing possible ditch work, and Northeast Asphalt reported a likely mid- to late-August start for construction.
Road Maintenance representative Les Oestreich asked the board to reduce the speed limit to 25 mph on Peachy Road and to install a 'children playing' sign on Cherry Road; he also reported a rotted tree on Sunset Point Road that needs removal. Oestreich noted fuel tanks have been installed at Town Hall.
On equipment, the squad vehicle is awaiting graphics and final set-up; the town’s septic system, previously pumped in April and November, now requires pumping after heavy rain because Town Hall is on a holding tank only. No formal votes were recorded on the road-safety requests at this meeting.
