Williston approves Flex PACE applications, $55,000 annual SBDC grant and $50,000 community enhancement program

At its Sept. 23 meeting the Williston City Commission approved multiple economic-development measures: three Flex PACE applications, an annual community grant to the Williston State College Small Business Development Office, and a Community Enhancement Grant program for nonprofit projects.
Economic Development Director Anna Nelson described the Flex PACE items: American Legion Post 37 requested up to $58,000 for the purchase of the business; Commonwealth Development Corporation requested $269,230.71 to cover infrastructure costs for a proposed 40-unit affordable-housing development (Nelson said that amount represents infrastructure only and would not draw from the STAR Fund absent other changes); and Scully Design Build/Great Northern Events asked to amend a 2003 Flex PACE approval, adding $161,230.71 to bring the total in line with the project's Tourism Primary Sector designation, with cost-sharing split between STAR Fund and Williams County.
The commission also approved a community grant of $55,000 annually to the Williston State College Small Business Development Office through 2030 and authorized opening the Community Enhancement Grant application with $50,000 available for nonprofit projects. Commissioners approved all items by unanimous voice vote.
Next steps: staff will process Flex PACE agreements, confirm state contingencies for the housing infrastructure item, and issue a press release about the Community Enhancement Grant program.
