Orange County Board elects Miss Doyle chair and Miss Padilla vice chair; agenda adopted unanimously

The Orange County Board of Education used signed written ballots to elect its officers during the organizational meeting. The board’s procedural officer explained that ballots must be signed and dated and that they would be maintained as public records for Orange County Schools. Franklin McCune circulated and collected the ballots for tallying.
After ballots were counted, the procedural official announced, "The result is 7 votes from Miss Doyle," declaring Miss Doyle elected chair. The board followed the same process for vice chair; the tally announced was seven votes for Miss Padilla and she was declared vice chair.
Earlier in the meeting, a motion to adopt the organizational agenda was made from the floor and seconded; the board voted unanimously to adopt the agenda. Board members were also asked to sign the annual code of ethics; no board action was required for the ethics item, and signed copies will be kept on file by the clerk.
A member thanked outgoing chair Will Atherton for his service before the board adjourned. The organizational meeting concluded after an adjournment motion carried.
