Williston approves engineering task orders and change orders totaling roughly $1.5 million

City Engineer David Juma said SRF Consulting’s Task Order #3 will prepare plans and specifications for pedestrian safety improvements around Bakken Middle School under a Transportation Alternatives Program (TAP) grant "not exceeding the amount of $98,573.00." The commission authorized the task order and directed the city engineer to execute the required documents.
Juma also presented SRF Task Order #4, an hourly traffic study at 34th Street West and Highway 2 to recommend safety improvements supporting planned Williston Square growth; the task order is hourly, not to exceed $24,997.
On Dakota Drive, two change orders together increased the contract by $100,138.43 (Change Order 1: +$88,951; Change Order 2: +$11,187.43), raising the contract from $1,848,446 to $1,948,584.43. Juma said the 2025 budget included $2,780,000 for the project.
The commission also approved Alliance Consulting Task Order 25-6 for general 2026 services (surveying, drainage analysis, conceptual layouts) not to exceed $300,000 and Task Order 25-5 for design and construction administration of 36th and 38th Street West improvements, including support for a new ice facility, not to exceed $987,520.
All motions passed by unanimous votes. The transcript records motions and approvals but does not detail project-level schedules or construction start dates beyond noting design work will support 2026–2027 schedules in some cases.
