Land Board approves sale, timber sale, easements package and rulemaking request

Realty officer Niti Wallach identified herself and asked that any approval include a minimum sale price of $770,000. The board moved to approve the item (0824-1) with the stated minimum price and approved it by voice vote.
Llama Tracks timber sale: DNRC staff presented the Llama Tracks timber sale, located roughly five miles southeast of Swan Lake, which includes four harvest units with an estimated 7,000 tons of sawlogs. A successful bid of $23.99 per ton was reported; DNRC estimated the sale would generate approximately $167,929 for the common schools trust and about $30,029 in improvement fees. Board members asked where logs would be delivered and staff said a competitive market and reduced mill capacity in the valley mean bidders may deliver to local mills where feasible or to more distant facilities. The board approved the timber sale (0824-4) by voice vote.
Easements package: DNRC described an easement package (0824-5) with a total value of $221,203 intended to benefit the common schools trust, Pine Hill School and public land trusts; affected counties were listed in the packet. The board approved the easement package by unanimous voice vote.
Rulemaking request: DNRC requested permission to proceed with rulemaking to amend recreational use rules (ARM citations were read into the record) to align rules with changes in statute and to adopt food storage requirements for public safety and grizzly bear habitat. The board voted unanimously to proceed (0824-6).
All actions on the consent agenda were approved without recorded roll-call tallies; the board concluded the scheduled agenda and adjourned.
