Lambert trustees approve summer curriculum work, open summer hires, and adopt vendor memberships; several policies gain second reading

The Lambert School Board approved several operational and program decisions at its April 28 meeting, including in-house curriculum development, summer hiring, vendor contracts and multiple policy adoptions.
Elementary teachers proposed completing a social studies curriculum project in-house rather than contracting externally. The board approved up to four days of summer work (minimum six hours per day) for elementary staff, paid at the district’s certified substitute rate of $110 per day; staff may use the work toward two MEA days in October.
Superintendent Kara Triplett reported custodial and maintenance staffing plans for summer. The board authorized opening two full-time summer positions—a groundskeeping assistant and an assistant custodian—at $12.50 per hour, Monday–Thursday from 6 AM to 4 PM, June 1–Aug. 6, 2026, with no benefits. Current staff hours for summer work were noted (Shawn Lien and Gordon Anderson at 40 hours, Leanne Evenson at 40 hours, Maria Kirby at 30 hours).
The board approved vendor agreements including a 2026–27 Contract for Services with Prairie View Curriculum Consortium for $3,341.00 and FY27 MREA/MCA/Food Bid Membership Option One at $1,650 (which bundles MREA membership, a legal counsel option, and food bid memberships). Trustees also reviewed Bridged Health Alliance plan materials for staff insurance for 2026–27; details were included in attached materials referenced in the meeting packet.
On policy, the board approved second readings and adoption of numerous policies (including Special Education procedures, student records policies, enrollment, registered sex offenders, bullying/harassment, leaves of absence, and work-based learning), but did not approve the second reading/adoption of Policy 2335 (Health Enhancement Curriculum and Related Issues). The board scheduled its next regular meeting for May 26, 2026 and adjourned at 9:26 PM.
The board’s motions on these operational items were recorded as unanimous among trustees present.
