The Legislative Audit Committee heard a presentation of the State of Montana employee group benefits claim audit (24C-09) on Sept. 12, 2024. Marie Pollock, director of audits for Claim Technologies Incorporated, summarized the audit findings and evidence. Amy Jenks, Health Care and Benefits Division Administrator, presented the agency response and addressed committee questions.
Members pressed the auditors and agency staff for specifics. Sen. Forrest Mandeville asked about issues identified in air ambulance claims; the auditor and agency representatives acknowledged the finding and described the process used to identify those claims. Rep. Laura Smith asked Jenks to explain larger findings within the medical audit and received a staff explanation of the audit’s scope and notable error types.
After discussion, Rep. Lyn Hellegaard moved that the committee acknowledge receipt of the audit report, find it reviewed by the committee, file it, and distribute copies in accordance with law. The motion carried unanimously by voice vote.
