Select Board appoints member to MSBA and keeps regular 7:00 PM meeting time

The Board appointed Select Member William Ashton as the Select Board representative to the Massachusetts School Building Authority for the middle/high school project and decided to retain the 7:00 PM start time for regular meetings.
At its May 19 meeting the Cohasset Select Board appointed Select Member William Ashton to represent the Board on the Massachusetts School Building Authority (MSBA) for the middle/high school project and discussed board scheduling.
Board members noted the long-term commitment required by MSBA service for the duration of the project; William Ashton volunteered and the Board appointed him on a motion by Select Member Gregory Watts, seconded by Select Member Ellen Maher. The appointment was approved 5-0.
Separately the Board considered a proposal to move regular Select Board meetings from 7:00 PM to 6:30 PM. Member Gregory Watts said an earlier start would be difficult to maintain because of his commute from Providence. The Board reached a consensus to maintain the current 7:00 PM start time.
The Board also set its FY 2027 goal-setting workshop for Tuesday, June 9 at 7:00 PM and approved minutes from the May 12 meeting; the meeting scheduled for June 2 was canceled and the next regular meeting will be June 16.
