CLG keeps study meetings open to commissioners, names co-chairs and sets September follow-up

Diane M. Linderman, chair of the Commission on Local Government, opened the June 7 stakeholder meeting and announced a leadership change: Vickie Hull is stepping down as co-chair and Kimble Reynolds will serve as the other co-chair while Linderman will remain a co-chair.
Linderman told attendees that current and future study meetings would be open to all members of the Commission and therefore considered public meetings; she emphasized, however, that no official Commission business would be acted upon during these study sessions.
A procedural motion to approve the minutes was made by Kelly Harris-Braxton and seconded by David Blount; the motion was recorded as unanimously passed.
J. David Conmy outlined the meeting goals — reviewing prior discussions, discussing an updated fiscal analysis, and reviewing scholarly articles — and announced that the group would split into two subcommittees for the latter half of the session. The subcommittees focused on local structures and on fiscal topics.
Staff will reach out to stakeholders and schedule a follow-up meeting in September. The meeting adjourned at 4:00 p.m.
