The Commission on Local Government on March 13 adopted a proposed schedule to assess state and federal mandates that have been new or significantly altered and in effect for two years. The measure passed unanimously by the commissioners present.
Kristen Dahlman, senior policy analyst, presented the proposed schedule and identified two items slated for review: the Virginia Main Street program and the two‑percent building permit levy. "Ms. Dahlman presented the schedule of assessments for mandates (see attached) that were either new or significantly altered and have been in effect for two years," the minutes state.
Commissioner R. Michael Amyx moved to adopt the assessment schedule; Commissioner Victoria L. Hull seconded. The motion was approved unanimously by the three commissioners present: Kimble Reynolds, Jr., R. Michael Amyx and Victoria L. Hull.
The adoption directs staff to carry out the assessments according to the schedule. The Commission did not record amendments to the schedule or a roll‑call vote in the minutes. Next procedural steps will be the staff assessments and subsequent Commission deliberations when individual mandate reviews are completed.
