Bonduel redevelopment authority asks village board for $12,000 to build greenspace by Village Hall

Chairman Russ Gehm opened the Village of Bonduel Redevelopment Authority meeting on April 8, 2025, where members voted unanimously to request $12,000 from the Village Board to create a greenspace adjacent to Village Hall.
RDA member Jesse Rankin presented the proposed layout and an estimated project cost of about $12,000, which he said would cover trees, relocating existing flag poles, concrete work, an overhead cover, signage, planters and electrical work. After discussing potential funding sources, including fundraising, RDA member Andrew Court moved to request the $12,000 from the Village Board; Caitlin Richter seconded the motion and it carried unanimously.
Rankin told the board the Village Board has given the RDA authority to name the new greenspace. The RDA agreed to defer detailed naming discussion and any final action to a future meeting.
The authority also reviewed a Visitor Survey for downtown Bonduel presented by Kristen Fish-Peterson of Redevelopment Resources. Fish-Peterson said Redevelopment Resources will use the survey and demographic results to help develop the downtown redevelopment plan and will prepare a social media campaign for the Village’s Facebook page to share results and promote RDA initiatives. Following discussion, RDA member Lisa Hughes moved to remove the survey item from the agenda for the current meeting; Andrew Court seconded the motion and it carried unanimously.
On unfinished business the board reiterated that prioritizing the greenspace adjacent to Village Hall is the RDA’s current focus; staff and Redevelopment Resources will meet with downtown businesses in the coming weeks to follow up on next steps. Jesse Rankin also reported that RDA member Sean Falk was elected to the Village Board, creating a vacancy for a village resident on the RDA.
The meeting adjourned at 6:18 p.m. Motion and vote records from the session show the two primary motions noted above were carried unanimously by the members present.
