The Nevada City Council completed a package of routine and project votes on Tuesday, approving downtown revitalization actions, drainage easements and several grant and contract items while directing staff to pursue follow-up on more complex matters.
Key votes and approvals - CDBG downtown façade project: Council approved a resolution finalizing plans/specifications and later awarded the contract after staff identified deducts and contingency adjustments that reduced the apparent overage. Staff will consult property owners on final scope and cost shares. - Payout and change order: The council approved payout No. 4 for Oak Park Estates Trail to Mid State Solution LLC for $18,139 and approved change order No. 2 for trunk-line manhole rehabilitation adding $12,070 to the contract. - Temporary easements: Council accepted multiple temporary easements to construct and maintain drainage between the city and private parties, including property owners and the Story County 4-H Fair Association. - Federal-aid agreements and transfers: Council approved Surface Transportation Block Grant swaps with the Iowa DOT for pavement-replacement projects, including Lincoln Highway work; staff said DOT review and an October bid timeline are expected. - Licenses: Council approved a five-day Class C (outdoor service) license for DU Bowl/Sports Bowl for Lincoln Highway Days and an outdoor extension for Lincoln Tap on specified dates. - Utility-bill adjustment denied: Council voted not to grant a second bill-adjustment request for 711 10th Street; staff said policy generally allows just one adjustment per year without a separate irrigation meter.
Several items were tabled or set for more information, including a GIS services contract review (staff will seek a better price) and further clarifications on the CDBG owner-level cost shares.
