Perryville aldermen give first readings to multiple rezoning and code amendments

The Perryville Board of Aldermen on June 2 gave first readings by title to a set of bills that will return for later consideration. Alderman Seth Amschler presented Bill No. 6649 (rezoning approximately 17.46 acres on Highway AC from R-1 to I-2) and Alderman Clint Rice presented Bill No. 6650 (rezoning approximately 5.51 acres on Highway AC from R-1 to I-2); both were read for the first time by title only and carried on motion and vote.
The board also read for the first time a series of municipal code amendments (Bills No. 6651–6659) addressing topics that include police-force position rules and filling vacancies (2.56.020), long-term care personnel regulations (2.88.710), fit-for-duty testing (2.88.745), tobacco/nicotine/vaping rules (2.88.945), and multiple water service/master meter provisions and related charges (Title 13, Chapters 13.04 and 13.12). Each bill was presented by an alderman and advanced on initial vote; the meeting minutes record they were "read for the first time by title only." No final votes or ordinance numbers were recorded at this meeting for these items.
Because these were first readings, the board did not debate or adopt final language at the June 2 session; the items will appear again in future meetings for second reading or final action.
