Adair County supervisors approve $3.7 million in claims, set FY26 budget-amendment hearing

At its April 29 meeting the Adair County Board of Supervisors unanimously approved claims totaling $3,735,378.82 and handled a package of routine business, including permits, wage approvals, a manure-management acknowledgement and scheduling a public hearing for a FY26 budget amendment.
The claims listing presented to the board included multiple vendor payments and fund-level distributions. The grand total shown was $3,735,378.82, with large line items including a $3,415,893.75 entry identified as Series 2015 bond principal and interest and other significant amounts for construction and equipment suppliers. The board approved the claims motion on a motion by Hoadley, seconded by Christoffersen.
Other approved actions included a Courtyard Use Permit for Chamber Mainstreet to host Farmer’s Markets from June 4 through Oct. 14, approval of township clerk wages (ranging from $80 to $120 depending on township), and acknowledgement of a manure management plan update for Prestage Farms of Iowa LLC. Supervisors set a public hearing for a FY26 budget amendment on May 20 at 9:15 a.m.
County Treasurer Brenda Wallace presented an employee resignation and was authorized to accept the resignation and begin the hiring process for a replacement. Wallace left the meeting shortly after presenting the personnel item. All votes recorded at the meeting were unanimous unless otherwise noted; these routine items passed without recorded opposition.
