At the June 1 Town of Indian Head meeting, Town Manager Ryan Hicks summarized several capital and operations items and staff provided a May finance summary.
Capital projects and utilities: Hicks said the Riverwatch Drive parking project will add 24 spaces at the Boardwalk and will be rebid with an adjusted scope; East Poplar stormwater construction will resume once Verizon relocates utility poles and trees are removed; drilling for a new well by contractor Schultes is underway; the town has received a wastewater permit and is investigating sources of inflow and infiltration (I&I).
Grants and infrastructure funding: Hicks reported the town applied to the Department of Natural Resources (DNR) for dock repairs at Mattingly Park and is preparing an RFP if an award is made; the town said it will receive earmarks to fund repairs to several lift stations and to develop a well-house and booster station; meetings with EPA are ongoing.
Other operations: An EV charging station at Town Hall has been installed and is operational. Staff said paving repairs are planned over the next few months and noted an ATM at the Boys & Girls Club (former PNC) was removed after repeated vandalism.
Finance summary: The finance report posted in the meeting packet shows total revenues for May of $501,832.74, total expenditures of $371,227.09, and a cash balance of $596,578.62 as of May 31, 2026. Investment-account balances and line-item details were provided in the packet.
Public comments and next steps: During citizen comment, DauVeen Walker, branch manager of the Potomac Branch Public Library, said the library won a Maryland State Library grant to provide a telehealth booth that residents may reserve for two-hour telehealth appointments or a daily two-hour block for interviews or testing. Mayor Brandon Paulin reminded residents that the primary election is June 23 at the Village Green Pavilion and adjourned the meeting at 7:17 p.m.
What happens next: Staff will advertise bid specifications for the splash-pad project and continue project coordination with contractors and state/federal partners as noted. The town will post details and updates on projects in the meeting packet and on its website.
