Perry Park board approves submission of eight resident FRWRM grant applications; director discloses conflict

At its Nov. 13 meeting, the Perry Park Metropolitan District Board approved submitting eight resident applications to the Colorado State Forest Service (Franktown office) for the FRWRM grant and agreed that, upon CSFS approval, the District would issue reimbursement payments to residents for qualifying mitigation work.

Director Joseph Brickweg moved the action; Director Kirk H. Mulbach seconded and the motion passed. Director Carsten Baumann disclosed a conflict earlier in the meeting regarding the residential portion of the FRWRM grant and abstained from the reimbursement vote, noting his own "participation in the program and upcoming reimbursement from the District for fire mitigation completed on his property." The Board also approved submitting the Dove Creek invoice to CSFS for approval.

The Board’s Firewise Committee reported that budgets were reviewed and generally on target, that coordination on fuel treatments and slash pickup is underway, and that the district is exploring streamlining the homeowner reimbursement process. The committee also noted that 2025 marks the District’s 25th year as a recognized Firewise community.

Separately, a longer Firewise committee record from Oct. 21, 2025, attached to the meeting packet outlines proposed line items for 2026 including mailers ($4,000), slash pickup and processing ($55,000), oak re-treatment ($75,000), a fire pond dry-hydrant ($75,000), and an address marker program ($20,000); the committee is preparing RFPs and CDFPC-compliant design requests for the fire pond work.
