Dr. Kelly presented the professional development calendar for the 26–27 school year and said it aligns with district priorities and the district's comprehensive plan. "It has been created in collaboration with administrators and teachers and is designed to support educator growth, curriculum implementation, assessments, compliance, and student achievement," she said.
The calendar includes a mix of full-day sessions, contractual in-service time and adjusted schedules for early dismissal days. Dr. Kelly said training topics will include new curriculum resources in science and English language arts and use of district instructional platforms such as IXL and MAP; some vendor contracts include training time, the presenter said.
A board member asked whether federal funding commitments had affected the PD calendar and whether the district would need to use other funds. Dr. Kelly said she typically uses Title II funds for professional development and that some PD is supported internally by curriculum supervisors and instructional coaches. Secretary Rogers added that Title II allocations "have actually increased slightly" and that budget details could be discussed during the budget conversation.
Dr. Kelly also noted that Nov. 3 is an election day and acknowledged schools will host voting; the district plans to run asynchronous and synchronous sessions that day to maintain flexibility. The committee indicated consensus to move the PD calendar forward to the special voting meeting scheduled for tonight.
