The board received the director's report for June 2026 with circulation, program and outreach numbers and discussed routine policy housekeeping and volunteer recruitment.
The director reported one curbside pickup and 309 in-person patrons for June, six class visits with 118 students, eight story-time events with 60 adults and 71 children (131 total attendees), Dungeons & Dragons programs for two age groups (three sessions for ages 14 and up; eight for ages 13 and under), and a total of 1,085 circulated items at the Hubbardston location. OverDrive checkouts totaled 859 for the month, and the library had 978 website visits in June.
Staff are planning a teen advisory board and noted that summer programming (including Dungeons & Dragons) will pause over the summer months. The director said FY26 financials remain incomplete while the town accountant finalizes entries and that some state-aid expenses will be offset by an unapplied second state-aid payment.
Trustees discussed forms and policies: an out-of-system interlibrary request form will be tabled while staff confirm whether the current procedure or fees differ from earlier practice; trustees also discussed consistent header formatting on forms and removing outdated printed materials that list superseded town contacts. Trustees agreed to set aside time to orient trustees to the shared Google Drive structure and to consider a naming convention for archived documents.
Board members noted two trustee vacancies; the chair and staff planned to post recruitment notices on Facebook, Instagram and the library website, and to consider in-library signage and outreach to potential candidates. The trustees also discussed restarting the Friends of the Library group and tying fundraising and publicity to the renovation project. A memorial bookplate collection in memory of Jeffrey Williams was discussed; trustees agreed to contact his family before publicizing the collection.
