Blue Springs South honored at board meeting after second straight large-class state baseball title

The Blue Springs R-IV Board of Education recognized Blue Springs South’s baseball team at its July meeting, celebrating a second consecutive large-class state championship won on 06/06/2026.
Athletic Director Jimmy Cain Ford opened the recognition by noting the rarity of back-to-back championships: “Only twice in the last 44 years has a school in the largest class of baseball in Missouri won back-to-back state championships,” he said, and then introduced coaches Baer, Longwell and Callahan to present the trophy to Superintendent Dr. Jerome.
Coaches accepted thanks from the board and community, praised the players’ resilience and teamwork, and noted longtime assistant coaches are stepping away from the program. Speakers emphasized community pride and the broader role of athletics in the district.
The board asked for a group photo following the presentation and extended congratulations to the players, coaches and families.
