Perryville holds hearings on rezoning two Highway AC parcels for industrial use

The Perryville Board of Aldermen on May 19 held consecutive public hearings on city-initiated requests to rezone two parcels on Highway AC from R-1 (residential) to I-2 (industrial).
City Administrator Brent Buerck told the Board the first parcel, about 17.46 acres acquired from the Perryville Development Corporation, is near the Missouri National Veteran’s Memorial and staff believe industrial zoning “would be favorable to possible expansions.” Buerck said the second parcel, about 5.51 acres acquired from MoDOT after the Highway AC installation, likewise is considered more suitable for industrial use than residential development.
Mayor Larry Riney opened and closed both hearings after no members of the public came forward to comment. The hearings were informational; the transcript records staff recommendations but does not record final zoning votes or ordinance language from this meeting.
