Aspen preservation commission grants continuance for 212 North Monarch to Aug. 26

The Aspen Historic Preservation Commission on July 1 voted to continue the application for 212 North Monarch Street to a date certain of Aug. 26 to allow the applicant more time to revise the packet.
Chair (speaker 1) moved the continuance after staff (speaker 6) explained the project had already been continued once at public hearing and that the applicant had submitted an updated application. The chair said the continuance would allow additional time to work through outstanding items and to distribute materials to neighbors if necessary.
Commission discussion was brief: the board expressed that the updated packet made them comfortable moving the hearing to Aug. 26. The motion was seconded and the roll call vote recorded Jody, Barb, Duncan, Kim and Cara as voting yes; the motion carried.
Because the applicant has requested additional time and an updated application has been submitted, staff noted that if the commission had declined the continuance the project would have required a re-notice to neighbors. By granting the continuance, the hearing will resume on Aug. 26 with the updated materials.
The commission did not set any additional conditions during the continuance. The item will return to the commission on Aug. 26 for continued review.
