Ogdensburg leaders report water tank leak, DPW equipment and staffing updates

Councilman Ciasullo said new chlorine pumps are expected this week and that once installed he will determine whether the work can be done in-house or requires a contractor. Mayor George P. Hutnick and Councilman Gordon described a leak at the base of a wall associated with the water tank; Gordon said video shows the leak at the base and believes the tank itself is leaking. Councilman Ciasullo said the borough will need its engineer to inspect the issue; the council discussed potential grant options, including USDA rural water grants, as a possible funding source.
On DPW operations, Councilman Gordon reported crews are trimming roadside trees and brush, catch-basin maintenance is scheduled, trucks are operational, and the sander is awaiting a hydraulic pump. Councilwoman Gandarinho said DPW is fully staffed and emphasized training needs so staff can handle incidents internally. Councilman DeMeo reminded residents to move cars off streets during snow events to allow plowing; the police department is enforcing parking in those conditions.
No public comments were offered during the meeting; council members agreed to follow up with the engineer on the tank leak and to pursue necessary repairs or grant opportunities as appropriate.
