The City of Monroe Plan Commission approved an extraterritorial certified survey map that will divide the Maple Leaf event center building off from the surrounding farm parcel.
Staff and a representative explained the map creates a 33-foot easement for future road right-of-way and that, under County code, surveys outside town generally must be drawn to the roadway centerline; if the parcel is later annexed to the city, owners may be asked to dedicate land fully as road right-of-way. Todd Hazy, representing the Koning property owners, was present to answer questions.
A motion to approve the certified survey map was moved, seconded and carried unanimously by roll call.
